EYG Supporting local charities
EYG has a long history of supporting East Yorkshire charities, where our head office is based.
We are a long-term supporter of the Smile Foundation, a Hull charity which supports smaller, independent charities with advice and financial support. Since 2000, we have held an annual corporate Golf Day, which has raised in excess of £10,000.
We have also supported them through taking part in events including Boss Behind Bars, which saw Managing Director Nick Ward ‘jailed’ for a day until he could raise enough funds to act as bail.
To date, we have raised in excess of £30,000 for the Smile Foundation.
In April 2013, EYG, through the Smile Foundation, donated windows to Hull-based charity Hull Families Project, who help families in crisis and in need. The £8,000 worth of windows, coupled with building works from another supporter, helped the charity to provide habitable working space for their volunteers who work so hard for impoverished families in the city.
Then, in 2014, we also donated a full house of windows and doors to a tragic Hull family who had been nominated to receive a home make-over from BBC1 show DIY SOS.
The value of our donation of materials and labour came to £7,500.
More recently, we donated windows to a vandal-hit Hull sporting club, The Marist Sporting Club, after they were repeatedly struck by thieves. The new double glazed units will mean the club, which has limited funds for refurbishment, is no longer an easy target.
